Trans wires???

ok... mabey this is a stupid question but, i have two wires sticking out of the side of my transmission on the driver side close to the starter... are they for an electronic speedo... or what are they for??

oh.... well one of the wires is disconnected but my reverse lights still work???

nope....its literally a switch...those wires should have bullet ends on them...you'll see a sensor looking thing on the tranny...those bullets go in there.....

When you put the transmission into reverse, a pin pokes out of the guts of the trans into the switch. The switch shorts together the two pins, which completes a circuit sending power to the back-up lights.

With one pin disconnected, it won't work. If your backup lights come on, it's through some other mechanism.

any idea where one might get those bullet ends, or what might work as a substitute?

You can get the connectors at Radio Shack. I think they are .18 or .23...

It also good to have a boot over it to cover the connections to keep crud out.....
