Caliper screw tool - 5mm ribe socket?

Aarrrrrrgh!
I'm trying to find the tool that is used in the bolts that hold 914 caliper halves together. I believe it is called a RIBE, and is available in metric sizes. I've purchased 6mm and 8mm and found that the 6mm fits my 911 SC "A" calipers, but the similar, smaller unit on the 914 caliper eludes me. Is this a 5mm Ribe screw? If so, who makes or sells a tool to turn the fff... sucker. If it isn't that, (ribe, not f-----r which it definitely is) what the heck is it? Torx is a dangerously sloppy fit.
Many TIA - I'm going to my happy place now...

Dave

Answering my own post -
I believe the correct tool is Hazet 9915 5mm Ribe/CV socket, around 14 bucks. I'll let me know when it arrives.

Dave:
Where did you find the correct socket? I'll be getting to the rears on my '72 real soon and am looking at the same situation. Of course, I could always replace the RIBE bolts with standard hex head bolts and probably replace all 8 of them for $5.00 or less and never have to look at those RIBE bolts again. They are the only ones I can find on the whole car and it chaps me to have to buy a special tool for a single application (the fronts don't have them.) If I do the rebuild right, it will be several years (if ever) before I pull those things apart again, and my '74 has standard bolts holding the calipers together.

Why do Germans feel they had to re-engineer the bolt? (Probably a factor in the "rebuilding is not permitted" phrase in the Haynes manual.)

Motor On!

I purchased mine from Spaenaur - the Canadian Hazet distributor in Kitchener Ontario. They have a website with contact info. There are three left in stock, so if you want one you'd better order it or be prepared to wait for the next fahrt from the fatherland. It probably would have been less trouble to get new bolts, but the problem is solved now and forever.

Sealey make (and sell) this "Ribe Key Set 7pc T-Handle Fully Polished" for £33.95 ex VAT here:

Sealey

You can get this exact same SEALEY made set from PVR Direct for £8.38 here:

Sealey AK7153 - Ribe Key Set 7pc T-Handle Fully Polished at PVR Direct.co.uk

Don't ask me how they can do that, but it looks like a great buy!

Spaenaur in Kitchener ON is my source for these bits as well. Since I already have the sockets, I just get a few replacement bits once in a while. The bits tend to be brittle, so the trick is to just use the bit to hold the bolt while turning the nut only.

Herb, best of luck replacing the bolts. Just a hint: they are 12.9 grade 7mm hardware.
My suggestion: get the correct Ribe tools and be very careful not to damage the bolt or nut since they are nearly irreplaceable. Of course my 25 years experience rebuilding these little blighters may not count for much.

I think the caliper rebuilds mentioned in this thread are long since done. Note that it was started in 2001, and StMark decided to be a Thread Necromancer and revive it to post a link for some Ribe tools in the UK. If I were a more suspicious man, I would think he worked for that Sealey company and had only joined to promote the business...

But that would be mean, suspicious, and uncharitable of me...
