fuel pump problems
ok, now i got the starter working, and I think everything else is taken care of. Back when I parked it I can remember something about the auxilary air valve thing going bad and needing a new one and when it went bad the fuel pump wouldn't work or something. I thought I had a new one, and the only one I found was the one I put on the car. Was there a way to check for this or any other ideas of common reasons why the fuel pump wouldn't work.
Thanks

ok disconnected the aar and still nothing... doesn't have any juice to the fuel pump. I checked to make sure the ground was all hooked up for down there and that seems to be fine. So now I'm stuck at the power to the fuel pump...

The aux air valve being bad wont have any effect on the fuel pump. Have you checked to see if you are getting power to the pump? Also check the fuses on the relay board. I can't remember which one it is (there are 2)..

no power to the pump, and the fuses on the board and under the dash are ok. I took the fuses off the board, cleaned them, and put them back on with dielectric grease also.

Ok I messed with the connections on the board a couple more times, and now it sounds like it's priming for a few seconds, and then it quits. If I've got the fuel hoses on the pump itself backwards will it quit trying to pump after a few seconds? I'm going to mess with it more tomorrow.

That is the way it works. 3 seconds of pressure building then it shuts off till the engine is turning over. If you want to run it continuously (for testing fuel pressure or volume delivery) you can remove the 4 pin plug on the driver rear of the relay board and jumper pin 3 (drivers side front)to ground. This is the cct that the ecu uses to turn the fuel pump on and off. diagram attached. Remember to remove the power to the coil if you are leaving the ignition on for any more than a few seconds.
messing up the hose connections will not stop the pump from running but you wont get any fuel pressure at the rails. ![]()

ok you're talking about pin 86 I think right? I was looking at it today and pin 85 and 30 have power I think, and I can't remember what 87 was doing and 87a didn't have anything in the hole. I'll give it a shot tomorrow, and hopefull it works because everything else seems to now.

If you have power there you should be good to go.
The convenient place is not at 86 but where 86 connects to the the plug in the bottom left labeled with a roman numeral III. This is the four wire plug that has the white wires headed off into the FI harness.

87 is connected to the fuel pump; that's how power gets there.
Check the following web pages for D-jet fuel pump troubleshooting: Text-- http://www.914fan.net/fuelpump.html Flowcharts-- http://members.rennlist.com/pbanders/FPChecklist.htm --DD
