Question Thermostat cable & oil pressure sender

I spent most of the day taking inventory on what I needed to do on the electrical end of the restoration and managed to repair the temp sensor (Thanks Dave!!). Along the way I attempted to reconnect the back-up switch that has obviously seen better days with no success.
I took a look at the thermostat only to see that it was not connected. No cable in sight. Does anyone know where to look to reconnect to thermostat???? Do I need to remove some of the tin at the top of the engine??
I also have an Actron oil pressure gauge that has a copper tube with a small compression fitting encased in a clear plastic hose running into my engine compartment with no identifiable home. I've looked all over to no avail. Anybody know where it goes???

The oil pressure gauge will attach to a sender that mounts near the distributor. It will replace the stock idiot light sender

As for the thermostat cable, it attaches on the driver's side of the engine, right where the cooling shround meets the cooling tin on the top of the engine. there will be a spirng around a long metal shaft with a small clamp on it.

When the thermostat reaches the right temp, it pulls the cable, and the fins open up under the cooling tin to allow air to reach the oil cooler. The spring on the shaft is designed to open automatically if the thermo cable ever breaks. Quite honestly, I've never bothered hooking it back up when ive done rebuilds. It rarely gets cold enough in CA to need that time to warm the engine up.

Thanks Jared. I wasn't sure what that oil pressure switch was. I will try to hook up the gauge tomorrow.

small correction
never seen a thermostat contract with heat

it expands with heat, slowly letting the flaps go to full cooling position,

and it does make a difference when you have 8qts in your 4 banger's oiling system
