larger cyl=head cut?
If I go up one size over stock on a 2.0l motor will the heads need to be machined?
Thanks |

I'd ask the manufacturer, but I've always seen the 96mm P/C's advertised as "slip in" kits. Where as the 103.5mm need the block and head to be machined. If you can find the old aluminium 100mm you would have to measure them to find out.

Anything more than a 96mm requires machining..
96mm is most most often used cylinder...I prefer them, even over 103's...for more resaons than one.. |

It is best to use the 1.8 96mm P/L with the 1.7 head because of the liner thickness on the NPR 1.8 (P/L) over the NPR 1.7. It is my understanding that the 100mm came with a cast iron liner (jug) and aluminum fins, which over time, would become loose. In any case the 100mm would require machining. The machining is not a "big deal" for a good machine shop even to the point of a plunge cut to increase compression.

It is my understanding that the 96es for the 1.8 will not fit in the 1.7 head. And also that the 96es that are "slip-ins" for the 1.7 heads are a bit thinner than is good for reliability.
