CHT Installation

I received my cylinder head Temperature sensor from Pelican....I'd like to install it. It was suggested to notch a socket to allow room for the wire.

....I'm doin' and learning a lotta new stuff, but notching or modifing tools might hold me up on this one.

Have any of you 914clubers "notched" a socket for this task. If so, could you lend it to me. I'd get it right back to you and pay shipping.

Thanks,
Ray

Grind off one corner of a 3/8th extension so the wire can come out the top of the socket. It stilll works fine for other stuff, it just becomes a conversion piece in your toolbox.
make sure not to lose the copper gasket!!! It works to use a dap of super glue or hot glue a corner of the gasket to the cht so it doesn't fall down into the engine.

Maybe it depends on the size of the socket and wire, but...

See if you can coil the wire up and fit it inside a deep socket.

BTDT and you will need a really long socket to fit all that wire.

On my car, I just use a deep socket and stuff all the wire into the end of the socket before installing, it works everytime.

I cut a box out int he MIDDLE of a long 13mm socket to fit the wire through.

Took about an hour and three fiber cutting wheels.

That's kind of what I figured......grinding down a corner will hopefully be quicker.....
