vinyl sail replacement

does anyone have a step-by-step to remove chrome and replace the vinyl sails?

I'm looking to do some body work in that area...need to remove the chrome...don't want to destroy it...then I'll get new vinyl sails once painted.

Check out the October 2005 issue of Excellence.....Eric Shea did a whole article with pictures on the subject.

Excellence in a national Porsche magazine you can get it at any good news stand or book store or subscription.....The 914 club, when it is back has the Eric Shea's sail replacement article also.

Realy chessey, I just did these and they look great from about 1.5 feet. Truck bed coating. This is going to be my driver and dosen't have to be perfect.

Vinyl on the top of the targa bar?!?! Sweeeet. My '72 has the sail panel vinyl but no vinyl on the top of the targa bar - it's painted the body color. Was the targa bar vinyl a feature on all/some/very few 914s? Now I want to do this too! Wait, I guess this would be project #37 on the 914 to do list.....can't wait for summer!

Should be on all that had the vinyl... yours was probably removed at one point. Was the car ever repainted?
