Engine tin grommets

Okay, now that the rest of the motor is back together, and while it's still sitting on the stand.

Is there a source for new grommets for the engine tin? Pretty much all of the grommets that came out were wasted, and not worth putting back in.

Is there a source for new, or shoudl I find a source for used?

Thanks!

Lowes has a pretty good selection of specialty automotive parts - including gromets. Look in their hardware section.

If worse comes to worse you can alway split a fuel hose length wise. It would protect the wire going through but I'm not sure if the air leakage would be significant.

Well, I've picked up a bunch of grommets from the local harware suppliers. The thing is, none of these are sealed. Meaning that they don't have the extra rubber in the ID to seal against the air below.

Oh well. It's not a perfect solution, but it'll keep from cutting the wire on the tin...

I wonder if you could seal up the ID with some Goop once everything is assembled.

If you can get the part numbers, for example from the 914 PET CD, you can go to the local VW dealer and order them since they are mostly VW T4 parts. I did this and was able to get most of them.
