reinstall rollbar/sails vinyl?

I'm looking at a 914 that i'm seriously considering buying. However it looks like at some point in its life, the sails and targa rollbar were painted to match the body color. Is it possible to purchase the chrome pieces and vinyl and reinstall them? I really don't see why its not possible, just thought I would double check and see if any other Pelicans have done this.
Cheers, thanks for the info.
Kyle.

The vinyl was optional on many 914s, so your car may have originally come that way from the factory.

GREAT link. thanks so much.
only problem I notice is that I'm unsure of how the factory fixed the chrome trim pieces to the body. I didn't see any holes in the car I was looking at. perhaps someone filled them during a repaint.

There were holes for the trim. They could have been filled during a repaint, or they could have never been there. (See my above note for why.)

Dave, thanks for the clarification. If indeed the holes for the trim were filled. I could easily buy new trim pieces and lay out a pattern for the holes and then....gulp....drill the body.
