930S steering wheel on a 914-4 column??
Just got the latest issue of Excellence and read an article on a nice 914-4 to -6 conversion. The car pictured has a 930S steering wheel clearly mounted on a 914-4 column (key on right). I didn't think this was possible....are there hub adaptors out there for this??
Thanks for any and all input! ------------------ Real Porsches have their engines not only in the back, but in the middle, too! |

I don't know what the interchange is, but my 914 had a 3-spoke SC wheel on it when I bought it. Not all 911 steering wheels will fit, but apparently some will.
The early (70's) 911 vs 914/4 definitely have different spline patterns. |

I have a 911 4 spoke wheel on my 914. I took the steering shaft out and went to a machine shop with the wheel and my measurements. At the time (10 years ago) they only charged me $75. They cut the shaft down and shortened it, then re-spleened it for the 911 wheel.
works great brant |

There are adapters. Alan Johnson Racing has been selling a 930 steering wheel for years, with the adapter to fit a 914-4. And yes, the 914-6 wheel is different with a different number of splines on the shaft.
