vacuum hose to pressure regulator???
My pressure regulator for my '70 1.7 looks like it has a vacuum hose attachment on one end and the two fuel line attachments on the other.
Is there a vacuum hols that is supposed to attach to it? And if so, what is does it lead to? I looked at the hose diagram on Pelican Parts for a '70 1.7 by Marc-Andre Morin, and it did not show a vacuum hose for the pressure regulator, but a local VW machanic looked at it an swore up and down that it has one. My hoses are currently set up exactly like the diagram by Marc-Andre. Thanks, guys... Tom

The D-jetronic fuel pressure regulator does not have a vacuum hose fitting on it. Just fuel in, and fuel out. This is the EFI system used on the 1.7 and 2.0 914s, and some other cars.
The L-jetronic fuel pressure regulator has a vacuum hose hooked up to the fuel pressure regulator. This is the fuel system used on the 1.8L 914, and the later Buses. I think your mechanic is mis-remembering. It's not hard to do that, especially when you've seen dozens of nearly-identical cars with either... --DD
