HELP! engine stalls

Hi, guys. I need your help.
I was adjusting timing by turning the dizzy and, when I was tightening the bolt that holds dizzy in place, I saw a spark and then my engine started to die and stopped. I tried to start it again, it fires a couple of times and stops. I probably touched a wire (+) connector (partly exposed) and a distributor with a wrench. so, I think I burned something....
condencer? computer? Fuses?
Thanks....

Open up the distributor and look at the points and the wires to and from them. Unplug the green condensor wire from the points (at the distributor), and make sure the points give you a good ground when they're closed.

Also make sure you've got +12V at the black (or black/red) wire going to the (+) terminal on the coil when the key is in the "on" position.

CHECKED:
1 - the points have a good ground (closed and disconnected from the condenser)
2 - in this condition I checked the voltage on + coil terminal - it's 11.61
I didn't do anything else - no engine cranking, no other tests.
What else should I do?
BTW, prior to this fiasco, the engine's idle was not steady - between 800 and 1000 rpms.

It is possible you grounded and cooked the condensor. Check for spark however you prefer, I like to pull a plug wire and stick a spare spark plug on it, crank and watch for spark for God's sake don't touch it.

Thank you, guys.
Here's an update:
I did as you, Tobra, told, cranked the engine (it was turning with a struggle) one time, second and it started on third. turned it off. reinstalled the spark plug wire and crank the eng. egain. Again, first try - the starter was hardly turning the engine, on the second try - the eng. started.
As the engine was idling at 2500, I head some detonation.

Uneven idle (when warm).. could it be caused by a different compression in the cylinders?

I bet your timing is all messed up.

Too advanced timing = hard to start
