Porsche Crest Should I take an empty trailer to Ventura?

Well, since The Club is down I'd better ask this here in case there's no time once it comes back.

I am jonesing. Should I take an empty trailer to Ventura with hopes of getting the all-too-elusive cheap 914 engineless project, or am I merely impatient?

Had one lined up, we can't pull the trigger, got another one lined up and some jackhole gave the seller dreams of eBay fortunes, so I lost that one too.

The PERFECT car for me would be a '73 that is complete except for no (or blown) engine. The "perfect" car for me would have all its glass but could be rusty in places, banged up in places, or otherwise unattractive EXCEPT for its sub-$500 price.

My second choice would be any pre-'75 in any condition that is so cheap I can afford to buy a side-shift trans at the same time and bring both home.

Key points to both of these are the SUPER-CHEAP price and the side-shift trans. If I can't have both then I know where to get a good car for about that price and I'll wait on the trans.

Long weekend coming up, so if you're anywhere in "the Square" of SoCal formed by connecting SLO to Vegas to Mesa to San Diego, tell me what you have that fits the bill. Otherwise, tell me what you want for the side-shift trans you're bringing to Ventura. :-)

Take it and put a sign on the side "Needed, 914 roller to fill this space"...what will it cost you except a few miles per gal to drag it down there

Well, that's pretty significant considering I'm coming from Victorville. Methinks I've got no case for a cheap 914 if I can afford an extra bill (and 20MPH) to haul an empty trailer around.

OK, so it's not looking so probable. Maybe I should find additional funds and see what I can get, but I feel kinda foolish for thinking I *HAD* a 914 all lined up, bought a RennShift and about $1,000 worth of parts (not counting the 2.7) and now I have nothing to put them on.

So I keep the shifter wedged between the cusions of my loveseat and shift while I watch GrandAm.

Sorry, no idea where Victorville and GAF is in relation to each other, all I know is they are a lot closer than I am

I have a "almost roller" that I really want to get rid of. If you pick it up in Fresno, CA - it's free. I'm probably going to post it in the classifieds but if I can't get rid of it by Thanksgiving....it's going to the wrecking yard.

Here's a photo, it's missing the doors & hoods but I could include all of these from a different car. This photo is before I took the car apart - it's just a shell (no wheels, or anything - but it's in pretty decent shape)

Wow, NOW we're talking!

OK, sent you a PM, but I will need wheels of some kind to get it on and off the trailer. We should also talk about door$ and hood$ and what your schedule is like. This Saturday morning is best for me.

Been there, done that, garage full of crap to prove it. :-)

The difference is, it's not wishful thinking that I'd harvest.
