Interesting 914 on E-Bay

There's an interesting car on E-Bay. A convertible conversion with a lot of pictures. This is the 1st one I've seen that looks pretty decent.

I have to admit, that doesn't look bad, needs a roll bar.

Now, those seat covers have to go.

After a closer look, the convertible top covers the engine grill. I wonder if it runs hot?

Okay.......

So how does the engine not melt down? Where does it get cooling air from? The engine lid seems to be fully covered in top-up or top-down configuration, and there are no pictures of the convertible mechanics at all.

Amusing to look at, but I wouldn't spend money on it...

in my mind, taking away the targa setup seems to make it look less like a sports car....

Ok, so I see where we are getting air in allowing you to completly cover the engine lid. I'm not sure that you would get enough air flow. Could be a good way of getting additional air and I think others have tried a similar approach. Don't get me wrong in a strange way I do like it. But my real question is what about the engine noise with the top up. What is in place of the original lid. I some pictures of the engine bay.

Air inlets in near the door handles let *some* air in...definetly not much though. I kind of like it though....

I'll bet it has so few miles because it sucks to drive.
I don't like it, but I'm just me.

I actually dig seeing custom work. Not always my cup of tea but this one seems pretty well done.

Not really custom its a "Willco" Kit. There is another member of the non-club site with a Black one.
I dont like the soft top but I do like the style of the air inlets.
Those could work great for a cold /presureized air box setup.

I find it amusing that the odometer reading is mentioned considering that it only works if it's plugged in and the numbers just keep on rolling.

As far as the ragtop idea, why in the world would you go to all that trouble when it's already a convertible.

If I have something to sell, I am calling Christie's!

What about the structure? The original targa sail/roll bar provides alot of the ridigity for the car. Simply cutting it off without stiffing chassis in some other location compromises the car.

My question - what happens in a roll-over? "Duck and cover?" At least he could have fitted a roll bar - plus it might regain some of the chassis stiffening lost.
