I need to find a new and precise tach for my 914/6. The engine is currently a 2.2l T engine from the early 70s. I am tracking the car and have had two used tach's that have stopped working and when they were they bounced all over the place. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can get them inspected/cleaned/rebuilt by a number of VDO shops...Pelican also offers gauge rebuilding services.
IMHO any used 2.2T tach you might find in fantastic condition will probably set you back as much as having yours rebuilt. Good luck, Chris C. |

If you don't mind changing from a stock tach, an Autometer recal will still fit in the original hole with rubber ring as a cushion. I'd also use one of their shift-lights so you don't have to watch the needle real close in the "heat of competition". There's a picture of it in the article here about my race car setup. Best price id probably from Summit Racing. Good luck.
