Heater Blower Relay
My 914 is a 1974 1.8. I removed the fuel injection and installed dual 2Barrel Weber Carbs. I have also installed the new style blade fuse block (see Picture).
![]() ![]() I have a question, I removed the relay board in the engine compartment. The relay for the heater blower has been moved to the front with the rest of the relays. Terminal 30 (wire) has been connected to fuse in new fuse board, Terminal 87 (wire) has been run back to the heater blower, Terminal 86 (wire) has been connecter to the heater blower switch (red handled thing between the seats), WHERE DOES THE WIRE FOR TERMINAL 85 GO??? |

The relay needs to have one of 85 and 86 connected to power and the other connected to ground in order to turn on. The blower switch grounds the wire connected to it when you pull the lever up far enough--so that provides the ground on pin 86.
So you want to run power to #85. I recommend a "switched" power source, such as one of the red/white wires up under the dash. --DD

When you say Rd/WH wires under the dash, do you mean the ones that are between current tract 69 and 73???

Those would do; but there are more. I think all of the red/white wires carry switched power, in fact. I'm pretty sure that all of the red/white ones up under the dash do.
