Quick six engine bar
Hi--
Can someone help me identify the manufacturer of this quick six engine bar? Also, does anyone know if the design will allow the use of stock heat exchangers and shift linkage (Brad Mayeur, of 914 Limited, thinks that it will)? Thanks, --John ![]() |

the quick 6 bar made by anyone is not what "I" would use. If it's a Patrick Motor Sport one, it has suspect welds.

I had one on my car... it uses stock & unmodified Heat Exchangers and Shift Linkage.
I bought a Rich Johnson mount to replace it though, my car kept jumping out of gear but is just fine now.

After I had my PMS bar mount re-welded, I am confident it will not break again.

quick six bar
Sorry for the confusion, I've been trying to add a photo of the engine bar. Can any of you help me attach a photo?
Thanks, --John |

Any quick six is not recommended. The long bars at each end flex way too much and cause the welds to break, no matter how good or bad they are. Either the Rich Johnson, factory mount or the new Patrick mount work great. I have a new model Patrick mount and it is also used by many of the vintage 2L conversion race cars. The advantage of it is the engine can be lowered at the rear so the transmission can be pulled out easily at the track or in the driveway. The Rich Johnson mount is like the factory mount but is better made. The factory mount is hard to find and generally expensive to get.

There are a number of "quick six" bars available. The one I call "the forty pounds of steel" bar does not clear the side-shift linkage without some creative modification. I think it might clear the stock Six heat exchangers; not sure about the tail-shift linkage or the stock Six linkage.
I don't like the quick-six approach for all of the reasons above. Some people have made them work pretty well (Hi, Trek!) but I'm not a fan of them. --DD

It's cool. After my welder finished TIGging with chro-mo rod, he said:
"If that breaks, I don't want to be there". KT
