Question Hand Brake Cable Adjustment

I just finished changing the pads on the read (what a pain!). I thought the problem with the hand brake stemmed from not enough pad. It looks like I just have too much slack in the cable. I couldn't find any adjustments on the cable.

If you look at the firewall where the cables enter into it, you will see some rubber boots. Under those boots there are adjusters to take the slack out of the cables.

Also remember there is an adjustment on the rear calipers for the parking brake. I am not quite sure what is necessary to adjust this seeing as to how my car has no parking brake whatsoever. I have been too busy(or lazy) to go out and fix it.

Thumbs up

Thanks, I'll look at the firewall tonight. I need this to pass inspection!

I believe the "venting clearance" for the rear calipers (measured between the brake pad and the rotor) is .008" and is adjusted by the allen adjuster screw on each side of the caliper (usually under a plastic cover). The outside one is obvious, but to reach the inside one, you have to go through a the hole in the trailing arm with a LOOOOOOONG allen.

I know about the inner allen. I ended up having to remove/replace a caliper because of the inside one being mucked up.

And hey, I'll working on putting your weber's on the '73 this weekend! Along with the heater flapper valves.

If I can get _one_ of them inspected and offcially on the road, I'll be happy!

Then I paint them!
