My 914 is, at the moment, speaker-less. I was thinking about installing door speakers, but then thought about getting the original panels. I found them, but I have no idea where they go in the car. Can anyone tell me where they should go and point me in the right direction...??

Glad to help...
The plastic factory speaker enclosures install and serve as the lower "kick panels" on each side below the dash. There is a hole in the sheet metal for the back of the speaker magnet to partially recess into, but you will have to use correctly sized speakers to fit properly. Many 914 owners install aftermarket speakers in the door panels just below the window crank. My experience has been that you can use larger speakers (6-6.5") here but they are usually located right where you kick the speaker grill frequently getting in and out of the car. There have been many posts on this topic in the past so be sure to search the BB archives. Good luck! |

Originally, the speakers (very small ones!) were fitted in the "kick panels". Those go along the top-front of the box section that runs along each side of the car. If you can see your heater hoses going up from the box into the dash, then your kick panels are missing. The kick panels covered up those hoses.
