Question warm up 1.7L

I have a 72 1.7 that for a number of reasons I'd like to beef up a bit. My main concern is the use of the stock heads. It's going into a Beetle so I'll use dual carbs

How much can I increase the b/s and still get enough flow through them?

Thanks in advance

Hello

what is b/s ? bore / stroke ?

There are two types 1,7 heads around. The difference is the covered intake guide shaft.

The early ones do flow a bit more and you can cut back the guide. By using the 914 2,0 crank, rods, P&C with that heads you will get up to 120 HP with a still smoth ideling cam. This will give a tourqer engine as the stock valves will not have enough flow for high revs ( at 5000 it goes down ). For bigger valves the later version is slightly better some get up to 150 hp. However the 1,7 EFI heads are better then the 2,0 Bus heads.

Grüsse
