Here is a shot of my favorite porsche picture. I thought it was a 911 but a friend of mine tells me he thinks it's a 912. Any thoughts?

If you mean the red one in the back I'd say it could be a 911 or a 912. Ecept it dosne't have a driver side mirror, which "might" have been an option back then, that would lean toward the 912 theory.

In the pic http://www.geocities.com/montgomery.jp/cars/2liter.jpg the oil cooler looked completely cooked, I'd be wery about re-using it.

...and seeing as I have a lightning I like the Cobra much more than the firechicken/cameo Z28

Must be GeoCities... The only way I could get to the picture was going to http://www.geocities.com/montgomery.jp/cars , then scrolling down to 914-911-356.jpg and clicking on it.

The passenger side mirror was not standard equipment on the 911 up through 73. I'm not even sure it was a factory option for many of those years, actually. So chances are better than even-money that the red car is a 911, not a 912. (Not that it matters, really...)

Sheez, I can't even tell if it has a driver's size mirror or not. Some of you must have really sharp eyes!

The silver car, of course, is a 356 cabriolet.

The car in the picture is a short wheelbase car (65-68) and has the sealed beam, non VW style, headlights (68). So the car is a 68 Porsche 911 or 912. The car looks like it has a low ride height so it is probably a 911L or S. But, it looks as if it has steel wheels which are more common on the 912. 912 or 911? Its impossible to tell from this picture, but one thing is for sure, its a Porsche and thats good enough for me!
