Post 1975 1.8 fuel injection problems

I just took out my dual carbs and replaced it with a fuel injection system but i can't seem to get the fuel pump to turn on, i can hotwire it so i know it works, i checked the fuse and relay but that didn't do it either. I'm not sure i got the wireing right when i installed the fuel injection harness so the brain may not be getting power. does anyone have a 75 1.8leter with fi in the seattle area i could come take a look at? i'm feeling pretty lost here.........starting to consider putting the carbs back in. please help!!

Different FI, different fuel pump control system.

Macman, do you have the "dual relay" that hangs off of the battery tray? That controls the power to the pump and to the ECU. See the wiring diagrams in Haynes and/or available elsewhere on this website.

Dont forget that the fuel pump is activated by a switch in the air flow sensor. You can fake it out by removing the cover and move it with your finger.

Keep the FI!!

Good Luck,

Like DD says, my doc is only for D-Jet, not L-Jet.

The L-Jet injection uses a different main wiring harness on the engine as well as the double relay. The engine harness has a plug that connects to the double relay, supplying power and ground for the fuel pump circuit. On the end of the harness that connects to the relay board there is a white wire with a spade connector that hooks up to the fuel pump circuit on the relay board. It plugs in to the 4 pin connector that the d-jet wiring connected to. I can't remember for sure which pin, but I think it is the right rear. Without the proper engine harness, there is nothing to turn on the fuel pump.
