Vacuum hoses
I removed the fuel injection from my 1.8 engine. I am still using the stock distributor and I need to connect the vacuum hose from the carb vacuum port to the vacuum advance. My vacuum advance originally had two vacuum hoses going to the throttle body. Do I still need to connect both hoses to vacuum or can I plug one off and connect one to the carb?

The fitting on the distributor that points toward the distributor body is vacuum retard. This usually gets hooked up to a fitting on the manifold, or below the closed position of the throttle on the carb. The fitting that points away from the distributor body is the vacuum advance, and that gets hooked to "ported vacuum", which is generally just barely above the closed position of the throttle plate.
If you don't have one or the other of these, then don't hook up that fitting on the distributor. --DD
