How hard is it and how do you remove the chrome front windshield surround?

Thanks

The trim is held on by a number of metal clips. A good windshield person will have a tool to unhook the clips from the trim, and will know how to use it without bending the trim. I don't have such a tool, nor do I know how to use it without damaging everything. (Note that the clips often break even when you're careful, so it's a very good idea to have a set of replacement clips on hand.)

I am not sure, but I think replacing the clips may require removing the windshield.

after watching someone do this on both a 911 and a 914, I will gladly pay $100 to have it done. It's not and easy job to do without bending it

I was able to remove my "chrome" without bending it, working very slowly and carefully with a putty knife. I had to sacrifice 1 piece before I got over the learning curve.

TASK AT HAND.

This is done correctly with a tool show in the factory manual, that you can make. It releases the PLASTIC clips that hold the trim in place. Doing this has to be done with great care. The lower strip is no longer available. The left and right might be. Not sure. The windshiled must be removered to replace the clips, which is highly recommended when doing the windshield.

See now, I could have just asked Martin.

Getting painted when I get the elusive windshield frame seal, which should already be here.
