New shift bushings manufactured wrong?
The *new* shift rod u-joint/yolk bushings are pretty messed up. The center hole is too big. It's 0.520" diameter measured parallel to the axis of the shift rod and .490" perpendicular, installed. That's right, it's nowhere near round and it's way too big! The metal yoke IS round; it is not distorting the bushing.
![]() The hole in the old bushing that I removed is 0.475". The diameter of the factory pin is 0.470. The old bushings were a little soft and crumbly, so it seemed like a good idea to replace them. Note that it is a great fit on the pin. Anyone seen anything like this? Have any ideas? I will give the supplier a call first thing Monday, but that's two and a half days away... |

Looks like wrong one, wonder what bushings would be close. Got mine from these guys and had no problem.

I called Pelican about the problem. They called out to the warehouse and inspected one there. It also had an oval hole. They said they'd sold 140 of these with no returns...maybe this is a new batch... They gave me an RMA #. I consider these bushings unusable.

I would agree, has to be close or you get way too much slop in there
