Post Exhaust system differences

I have a 72 with a 1.7 engine. What are the differences between the 72 exhaust and the exhaust found on the 73 1.7? I dont seem to have a valance below the rear bumper so that wouldnt be an issue. Would the exhaust from a 73 bolt up to a 72?

They ALL bolt up to the 914 heads, but the exhaust exit where the muffler bolts up will be different.

The 1.7 for all years are the same.

The 73-74 2.0 is all the same, BUT the 1.7 muffler and exhaust hanger does not fit.

One of them has a turn up at the ends and the other goes straight....

The 75-76 2.0 is completely different.

As to the 74-75 1.8s....never owned one so my experience is lacking there....sorry.

Hello

The 914/4 except the 2,0 and smoged uses genarly VW exhausts. Tje first wher the version with the mufflertip exiting in the middle and a long pipe going out trough the hole in the long valance.
/2 on had the new style with the short tip.

Those will need some reworking to fit into the old valance.

If you don´t have the valance then you can use all Volkswagen type 4 exhausts and most tuning exhausts for them.

So the only difference is in where the exhaust exits through the valance?
