Hey guys,
Anybody know if the momo shift boots shown on this sight work well in a 914? Also, what shift knobs are you guys using? |

Call me a fuddy-duddy, but I like the OE shift knob better than the aftermarket stuff. It just looks and feels 'right'.

fuddy-duddy... :P It has always seemed kinda small and hard to me... I'm looking at the Momo sphere, but I'm not sure about a metal knob. Anybody know how hot/cold these things get?

I had a metal shift cross bar in my old 72 Super Beetle and found this: Hot Texas Days = Hot shift cross bar.

Metal shift knob is a NO-NO in an open top car. Even in Massachusetts, in a closed car (my GTI), my drivers edition golf ball, 1/2 leather 1/2 brushed, gets too hot to touch in the summertime. I could not imagine what a similar unit would be like in the Teener.

C'mon guys! A hot shift knob? That's just the excuse you need to look cool wearing your orange nomex gloves as you cruise down the street on a nice summer day!
![]() Seriously though, I have a Sparco solid aluminum ball type and it never seems to get TOO hot here in SoCal. If I remember to throw my hat over it when I get out, it barely gets warm. YMMV. I bear no responsibility for any scorched palms... ------------------ Mike '73 914 2.0 |
