Brakes

Hello all, need a little help. I just have taken my 1975 914 out of a two year storage and the back brakes are sticking when I push the peddle. The pistons are not releasing and the pads are staying engaged against the rotors. Would it be helpful to bleed the brakes and manually collapse the pistons to free them. Any suggestions on this would be much appreciated. One more thing I am glad to be back into the 914 world after doing a couple years in Alaska.

It might be helpful to bleed the brakes and push the pads back by hand. It is also possible that the brakes have sat too long with wet fluid in them and they need a rebuild. It is also possible that the brake flex lines are swelling internally and need to be replaced.

Start with the cheap and easy stuff first, but realize that it may turn out to be an expensive problem after all.

try to brake them free first. sometimes, all they need is a little help. push them back by hand a few times and see if that helps ...
