What wire is this?

I have a pair of bundled wires that go into the same 6 wire plug that the antenna wire goes into. From this plug it goes into the front trunk and then into the right fender. From the fender, it looks like it tucks into the rocker. I could pull it out about two feet and then it stopped.

What does it go to?

Sounds aftermarket. Possibly something to do with the stereo?

Maybe I'll take a picture. I can't imagine what goes outside the right side of the car. No other wiring goes on that side.

It ends in a six pack plug with four male connectors and one female.

I also removed the big line noise supressor that must have plugged into the back of the radio. The speaker wires went into it. The speakers came out too. That was probably 10# of dead weight.

I'm considering an Ipod only setup with a small amp and two speakers, but I'll have to make my own enclosures.

It may be the A/C wiring harness if the car had A/C at one time.

That looks like the plug on my trailer.

Perhaps the car was towed regularly in its past life, and this is the hook up for brake lights etc.

I only say that because it goes to the back.

Ya never know with some PO's.

I had head lights and turn signals all wired with the same color!

I think it might have been part of the AC. There was AC on this car at one time and that is the only thing on the passenger side of the car. I cut the wire to remove it. I'll get the rest when I remove the rocker. I don't want to remove the rocker yet because I don't want to see the rust.

That's the A/C wiring harness. The 4 prong plug went to the air distribution unit that was slung under the dash. The wires going to the front were for the condensor unit that was installed on the floor of the trunk. You should see the remains of a hole about 18 inches square under where the spare tire mounts. The wires going to the engine compartment went to the compressor. The compressor was mounted on the right front corner of the engine, and needed to have an 8 inch hole cut out in the engine tin on that corner. You should see that cut out also, unless the tine has been replaced.

My wires ran through the tunnel not the rockers. But the A/C option was dealer installed so maybe that dealer used the rocker route instead.

Thanks Nola.

That is what I thought. I cut the wire to remove it. There is still some in the rocker.

My first project was to weld in new metal to close the hole that the condensor was in. The PO just left it open.
