" I thought that after 10 years of preaching that bigger isn'tr better that we had conquered these thoughts :-( "

Jake,

I have only been listening to your sermons for about 4 years and I'm a slow learner :- )

Someday I hope to build a 2316 with your help for my 66 912.

Michel

So where do you send cylinder barrels to be bored to 96, and what does it cost?

I think it's Rimco, Dave mentioned it in past threads. Sounds like taking some 94's they hone them out to 96. Anyway it looks like I might have to compromise in some area's. One thing I didn't ask about was heat exchanger/mufflers. Loud isn't a problem but hear in New England I do need the heat. Any idea's? SSI's & ????

Thanks

My 1.7 had a smaller exhaust tube, and you'd definitely want to change that if you go to a bigger motor. If it's a larger tube, you'd probably be ok.

I will try to measure the od if you'd like, so you can plan...

Somehow, I ended up with 96mm pistons, and no cyls to match. I am preparing to build up my motor too.

1911 vs 2056??

So it looks like I'm leaning towards a short stroke 1911, but.....
Jake,do you sell KBlack pistons that will have the correct comp ratio for one of you cams or a Web 86b? I thought I'd have Len rr the heads, should I go with larger valves?
Would the 2056 be an easier bolt together build , be more forgiving than building , running a 1911?

Cheers

...And to think, I have a zero-mile 1911 in storage that is just sitting there.

Note: Ya can't HONE a 94 to a 96. They are bored out first. Then honed to a given plateau finish specific to your ring pack.

Hey Clayton,

Thanks for noting about the cylinders.
Jake, I was looking at one of your posts about your 912 motor. From what I read it looked like your 9530cam, KB p&c's @ 8.5:1 and 2.0 heads by Len with stock valves? Does this motor have a stock 71mm crank and rods or is it a 78mm? It looks like this could be a combo that would budget and fit my driving needs. I'd be fueling it with a set of Webber 40 or 44's.
How would the power & characteristics change staying with my 66mm crank and using your 9530cam with 96mm pistons and 2.0 heads?
Also, what would you recommend for heat exchangers as headers won't work for our cool New England mornings?
Thanks
