Question Help!! Type one Prbs have me baffeld

My freind has a bug that wont stop missing. It has new point, condencer, cap, roater, wires and plugs. Its a stock 1600cc with a 009 distributer. Everything has been run on it. Checked whe vales, points, timeing etc. timing is at 7 degrees for the 009. at idele it shakes a bit (leads me to think broken motor mounts) and when the rpm is up it still misses. Id say @ 2000prm it misses about every second or so. The compression is 120 on all 4 cylenders. any ideas out there?

Intake leaks?????do some sniffing with a can of starting fluid )very carefully)..

Hey buddy, Is ur friend running a 34pict-3 carb?? If so, its gonna have a flat spot when u step on it.

Is the firing order right? Has the carb been properly dialed in, sounds like its running lean.

Believe it or not, on the dual port (I'm assuming its a dual port engine) the dual vacuum advance dist.works better than the 009.

Unless you've got the 110 or 120 cam in it, the 009 will work well. If it is the stock bumpstick, stay with the vac.advance dist.

Check out the Kymco motorsport website for tuning procedure on the 34pict-3. You'll need adobe acrobat to download the info.

Oh, one more thing...timing is set at 7.5 degrees for the 009. Is the miss only at higher rpms? Double check the timing,set the ldle, and check that carb. The big screw on the drivers side of the carb is for idle. The small screw just beneath it is for mixture.

Yeah its running a duel port, stock 34 single carb. and its diald in right. It has the miss iddeling and at higher rpm. Its got the propor fireing order, and is advanced to 7 degrees. it has a tach and it checks out at the higher rpm too. He put the engine in (brand new)from the mexico vw factory (i cant beleve he spent a grand on a long block iether) It was running perfectly fine and then it just started doing this about 2 weeks ago or so. Were just trying to make it relieable to drve to stckton ca. from Bakesersfield Ca. after witch he plans on selling it so buying stuff for it hes gonna avoid as much as possible.
