Question dellorto carbs

anyone have info on dellorto carbs? I have a dual carb set up that was handed to me by the guy I purchased my car from. only one problem, one carb is a del. the other is a weber. any suggestions?

Don't run the two different carbs at the same time. They'll never run "right" that way.

If the rest of the motor is stock, I recommend the original FI. If you've got the $$$, I recommend an aftermarket EFI. If you want to go carbs, I very strongly recommend finding a single of the Dells or the Webers so you can have a matched pair. Make sure to get the same kind as you already have. (I forget if they come in "left" and "right" versions or if both are the same.)

Webers seem to be the most commonly-used carbs. Dells have their own fans--including Jake Raby, who seems to really love them for a street-driven car. He knows more about them than I ever will, so hopefully he will be able to talk to you about them. I think he also sells the Dells and Dell parts. (I know Pelican doesn't.)

These aren't on the car right now. I would like to find info on the dellorto carbs, like where I could get a matching one, to make a matched set to install over the winter.

Dell carbs and parts are available from CB Performance. They supply anything you need for them and also have books and manuals on repairing, rebuilding and tuning them.

Yep, we love Dells, we outfit almost all our engines with them, most of the time, brand new ones (we are the source in the US) Dells are far superior on the street than Webers, they drive, run and progress better than any Weber I have seen...Dells, gotta have them..

I second that emotion, Jake.

Webers only work good in 2 positions, idle and WOT. Didnt last long on my daily driver. My Dells are a easier and nicer to drive on an 'updated' engine (cam, port, polish, compression etc...)

However, if you intend to autocross etc.. get the FI, with the carbs you go all the way to modified(fiberglass fenders, rollcage chassis stiffening, slicks, etc...)with one mod, 'they' don't care what is on the rest of the car. You can get way more performance from a 914 with (tuned)FI and a nice suspension package.

Then again if your the only car in modified then it may not matter and you can always tell your buddies the you won the "modified" class. and tell its reserved for the fast cars.

Jake, Do you have a pair of 45 Dellortos available for sale? I currently have a mildly tuned 2.0L (mild cam, ported heads, weber 40IDFs, Crane ignition, Bursch exhaust) that runs well. Would the Dells be too much for this? I'd like to go to a 2270 in the future and would be getting the 45s with that in mind.
