My 1974 1.8's fuel pump runs whenever the key is on. I read in another post that it should only run when the engine is cranking or running. Can anyone shed some light on this, and where's the air-flow contact that controls the pump?

The pump should run only when the flap in the air flow meter is open.
The contact that controls the pump is in the air flow meter. I forget which pins get shorted together to control that, but two of the pins in the connector of the meter do. Your pump could be wired wrong, the flap in the AFM could be stuck open, the fuel pump relay could be stuck, or there could be other problems. Try to isolate the problem first. --DD ------------------ Pelican Parts 914 Tech Support A few pics of my car: http://www.pelicanparts.com/gallery/Dave_Darling |
