So my limited budget put me 40 hrs so far on making vinyl cover for my cracked dash top. A lot of tries and errors to create patterns, then sewed all together by hands. Mat'l costed just $10 but what a pain.
Now time to finish up by glueing it on to the old dash surface. I used 3M Super 90 with no luck. It won't let me reposition after initial contact (I mean just a touch to align), and does not seem to bond strong to the dash surface. Now cleaning that cement off, what a mess. I need something more forgiving (so I can move the cover around just a little before it sets) with good strength to hold up. Any recommendations? Is contact cement good? Not sure if I should go for epoxy (too hard and strong) Thanks, Kurt |

hmmm, I would probably use some type of silicone adhesive like Goop. But that might be a little lumpy under the material, I think. So maybe some sort of contact cement. Or there might be some sort of spray adhesive out there that doesn't stick so fast, that would probably work the best. Maybe try an industrial upholstry shop or something like that.
