I just ordered up an A1 Cardone rebuilt 205AA
and wondered if anyone has installed a Compufire ( it's in the 009 I'm taking out) in one of these distributors. I recall reading a post that described a necessity for "machining" something off something to get it to work in non-009's....or will this just drop right in? Also, I have baseplate vacuum tubes on my 40idf's, and wondered if I should hook one of these up to the vacuum advance, to the retard, or look for another source of vacuum. (Mine are older idf's with below the throttle vacuum ports) |

Ones from below the throttle plate should be connected to the vacc retard port on the distributor. That's the one that points back toward the distributor body. If you don't have a "ported vacuum" tap for the advance, then leave it unconnected.
I don't know about modifying the Compufire. One version of the Pertronix requires some modification when installing in distributors with vacuum gizmos. --DD ------------------ Pelican Parts 914 Tech Support A few pics of my car: http://www.pelicanparts.com/gallery/Dave_Darling |
