Has anyone found any good carpet kits for a 914. I have looked on PP, Tweeks, etc.. but have found nothing to nice without spending $500.00. Just wondering what my options are on a 1972 in a Tan/Buckskin color carpet.

If you want original, it will be expensive. If you want not original but good looking, try to find a place that sells upolstry fabrics and carpet and cut and make your own. I did that with my race car and the vinyl edging was pretty easy to sew on with a regular sewing machine. Total cost was about $15 for all materials. Good luck.

I did the same thing that John did. In my case the stuff cost me approximately $45. There is one problem that I would like to point out…
… when using normal carpet, and cutting it in appropriate pieces you will have some difficulties installing it in your 914. Originally some pieces of the carpet kit were molted in the shape of some of the body parts (e.g. the area where the handbrake lever is located). Nevertheless the newly installed carpet looks much better than the old and I also learned to operate a sowing machine. ------------------ '74 Porsche 914 2.0l '90 VW Vanagon 1.7l Diesel |

brettmski,
You can watch Ebay (www.ebaymotors.com), as there is at least one person that sells a carpet kit of decent quality. Typical bids end prior to $200.00. Also if I'm not mistaken Pelican Parts also sells a carpet kit for around $200.00. Check out their parts index. Regards, ------------------ Gerard 74-914 2.0L 3D914 rodrigos6@juno.com |

My $.02
Make friends with your local upholstery shop during his slow season. Under $100 for carpets from mine, good price on seats too. Dave ------------------ -- Dave Pics of my '73 project here: http://members.tripod.com/mike4g/dds73_b4pics.htm |
