fuel pump problems

anybody know the fuel system in and out i finally had some time to take care of leaky injectors and install a pressure gauge to the efi system i noticed i had no pressure. my fuel pump appears to send the fuel back to the tank as the port marked "r" seems to have all the pressure. i know the "s" port recieves the fuel but isnt it supposed to come out at the "d"? i also tried an extra fuel pump i had laying around and it does the same and i kept all the lines the same. is there a possible wrong hookup at the coil or some easy remedy that im missing any and all help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Which type of EFI do you have? L-jet, as used on the stock 1.8s, or D-jet, as used on the 1.7s and 2.0s?

Have you verified that it's getting power and ground? The fuel pump in the L-jet cars is controlled by the 'double relay' that hangs off of the battery tray. When the starter is cranking, or when the flap in the air flow meter is open, the pump should get power and run.

I would not expect to have tons of fuel coming out of the "R" port on the pump, unless something is wrong with the check valve in the pump. It can run out of the hose going to the "R" port, as that will be lower than the tank, but it shouldn't come out of the port.

thanks for the reply the previous owner did some electrical engineering of his own the pump runs if the key is on that dual relay has lots of wires with female connectors running off of it. while were talking about the dual relay do you(pelican parts) supply those mine is rather corroded and should be replaced in the near future.

We carry two different ones. The notation says to read the part number on your current one to make sure you get the right replacement.

long link to catalog entry
