Hey all.. I went to pick up my 74 2.0 from an engine rebuild (pistons/cylinders&rings) from the mechanic. Only problem was... it wouldn't shift correctly. I believe it's a side shifter (but very unsure).
When I put it in reverse, it would not shift out! I had to let the clutch out and reverse slowly to get it out of gear. After a lot of work, I finally got it into 2nd and drove it back to the shop. Anybody have any ideas? I replaced a bushing a few weeks ago in the front portion of the linkage and it shifted fine. Did he just hook up the shifter incorrectly to the linkage? thanks! rob |

Probably got everything upside-down and bass-ackwards. I guess it wasn't one of the items on the "Things To Check" list.
Funny thing that it took YOU driving it home to discover the problem. I wonder what he would've said if you screwed the tranny up to boot? |
