I'm thinking of getting a new project

i posted a advert on craigslist, and got a reply about a 70' 914 roller. but includes a lot of small parts. well the guy offered me $200. i'm thinking this is reasonable as it will need a new engine and tranny. and since i got a 1.7 sitting in my garage. i'm also considering a V8 project, as i know a place in Tucson, AZ that sells a complete system. minus the engine. anytips on how hard this can be? because money right now is out of the fact till 5k. and since i have a fresh rebuild 350. has anyone done this? and how long/expensive was it?
