Post What happened?

Driving topless in Tenn., I highly recommend it this time of year; 74 914 excellerated several times when the clutch was pushed in. This occurred after cruising comfortably on interstate at 70-75 mph. I drove the rest of the way home with no more instances. Has this happened to you? Scary at red light with rpm's revving.

I would guess either: (1) your throttle cable is sticking, (2) the way your throttle cable is routed through the tunnel it gets pulled when the clutch is pushed in so you have to be sure it's not wrapped around the clutch cable, or (3) the ball socket on the front end of your cable is going bad, and it is hanging up on the arm for the clutch keeping it from retracting fully. Mine did this recently. The ball socket is not a regular part for PP, but they can get it and even list at the Porsche dealer is only $6.10 Good luck.

next time is does it, put the trans in neutral and let out the clutch. If the idle drops to normal, it's likely the throttle cable wrapped around the clutch cable. Otherwise, check the other stuff. As infrequesnt as it's been, I suspect a cable going bad or the ball socket.
