Post tires again

Ok, Like we have not heard this one before but I'm a tire newbie. I'm looking at the Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 in size 205/50HR15 running on stock Fuchs. Will this work? Anybody run this size? am i crazy? no, wait don't answer that. I would like the car to ride a little lower. Thanks again.

Yes, probably. 205s fit under the stock fenders on stock wheels (not aftermarket alloys) on most 914s. But not all.

Figure out how much room you've got with your current tires, and then figure out the difference in width between your current tires and the Kumhos. Make sure to leave some room for movement.

If you care....I am ordering a set next week for my 914/6 with 16x6 5 lug Fuchs. I run the 225 tires on my 911 for the front, soon to get some 245s for the rear....great value tire for a Porsche.

Bridgestone can bite my butt if I ever pay 250 for another tire.....

mikez,
let me know how you like them. I have to risk it because I'm going to order them from Tire Rack. I wanted a tire with a mix of autocross performance, as well as street performance. Regardless I think they would be much better than the all seasons from the PO.

BTW: Tirerack recommended the Yokohama AVS Intermediate over the Kumho Ecsta 712. Just not capable of handling large amounts of rain. I think I'll go with them for performance driving because I have a new set of trusty Michelin XZX's for the street. I also have new Yokohama AVS dB's on my '90 BMW 535i and think they're a great tire.

I have the Kumhos on my 928 and they are great!!! Rain and dry. I don't autocross the behemuth so don't know what kind of abuse they can take. But I am able to push pretty hard in the curves near my house and haven't heard a squak. Guess my limit is lower than the car/tire.

Hello, Dave is right. I run 205-50/15 Pirellis on Fuchs 2.0l alloys with no problems.
