Cant fire up my 914?

Hello

I have a 914 from 71, just bought from Sweden. But I have some trouble with my “new” 914. It’s a 1,7litrs who needs some welding, but the car is ok. I can’t start up the engine. The sparkplugs ignite perfect, there is gasoline in the tank, but it will not run. When I remove the fuel hose, and puts the hose in a bottle and starts the engine, I can’t see any fuel? Is it my fuel pump, where is the pump located? How does the fuel system work?

Hope anyone is willing to help

Best regards
Jesper, Denmark

Welcome Jesper,
I'm going to tackle a non-running 914 later this summer, but found this site which might help:

Thanks guys

Where is the fuel pump placed? By the tank or in the engine compartment.

In 71 it's in the engine compartment. Later years it was by the fuel tank.

From under the car, look up near where the right-side heater hose hooks up to the body of the car. The pump was originally in that area. If you don't find it anywhere near there (trace the fuel hoses to make sure), check up in the steering rack compartment. That is a popular place to re-locate the pump.
