76 2.0 with no timing mark!!??

Hello everyone, just got back into the 914 world after selling my 6 about a year ago.... man that was stupid! came across a 76 2.0 that has been in storage since 1991 and i could not pass it up,so after dragin it home and a good cleaning of the fuel system she fired up and drove down the road.... until the FI acted up and it would barley run at all. So to make a long story short I tore into everything on the ignition and fuel system and it ended up being a bad connection where the FI wiring harness plugs into the distributor triggering contacts. Problem solved until I went to time the ignition...... not a one mark, line, scratch, paint nothing on the fan to indicate timing????? Have anyone seen this before,is it possible the fan was installed wrong by a PO ?????

Could be a fan from something else. It does happen... It can also be hard to see the timing mark because it's waaaaaaaay back on the rear of the fan, and is hidden by the lip of the shroud most of the time.

In our timing article, we have a template you can use to mark your fan.
