What CAM to use with Weber 40's on 914
I have a 1974 Porsche 914 with a 2.0L-4cyl engine. As far as I can tell it has stock pistons and no head work done on it. I am putting dual Weber-40's on the engine after removing the fuel injection system. Need to know what a good cam (lift & duration) would be to go with, to match the carbs and possibly suggestions on going to a higher compression on the pistons & bigger valves on heads...trying to get to a respectable horsepower...125-150 hp..thanks

Poke around on http://www.aircooledtechnology.com for a while. They have dyno-proven combinations there. It's not cheap, but you will know exactly what you're getting.

I run one from Elgin in my car. I love it. It idles like it's stock and pulls hard all the way up to 6000rpm. I'll have to do some digging to see if I can get you the specs on it. I know it came with a little sheet with lift and duration and I did save it.
You might shoot a PM to camgrinder (John D). He used to work for Elgin and may be doing these cams. I only see talk about his 911 cams but it couldn't hurt to ask him about it. EDIT: It was closer than I thought. In opens: 26 deg BTDC In closes: 62 deg ABDC Ex opens: 62 deg BBDC Ex closed: 26 deg ATDC Duration 268 degrees @ .318" of lift It came from EBS and is listed on the reciept as item code 6708-18 (carbs w/good exhaust).
