Post 9 " X 15 RSR WHEELS ?

I convert my 914 to 916 look and I have 8" rear and 7" front fuchs wheels.
But I have space for more, Then I put one 8" in front and is ok !. (originally the 916 have 9 and 8 " )
Then I want 9" at the rear, I search on the books and I find that the carrera RSR have the 9" X 15 fuchs wheels at the rear.
And this particulat wheel maybe (I don´t know)have the deep offset or backspace that is apropiate for my car and I will don´t need spacers ?
Where I can find this wheels ?
Are this wheels ?, that was used in the 11 916 produced ?

To clarify

The 916 came from factory with 4 7"X 15 but a lot of people that convert to 916 use the 9" rear.
The backspace change between the 9X15 and 9X16 ?
I want to know, where I can buy this wheels ?
Do somebody know how many 916 was produced, some says less than 20, other 11, ?

1 x prototype & 10 x pre-production 916's produced, total 11. 9x15 fuchs are extremely rare & expensive, but copies are sometimes available. However 245/45x15 tyres are no longer available, & even with 225/50 the tyres rub on the inside lip of the wheelarch. 8x15 with 225/50 fit perfectly, 9x15 not worth the hassle.

There are companies out ther that will make
steel wheels in any size or offset you want or need. I think Rennsport might offer this service. Just another option.

Why not space the wheel out using spacers? I can't imagine that you would be able to FIND a 15 inch tire much bigger than a 245 anymore...

I don´t race, I only want the look of wider wheels. And only want Fuchs wheels.

Do somebody already have 9" in the rear of your 916 conversion ?

I don't have the imfo on 15 inch wheels....try the 911 list or rennlist.com email lists....

I can't believe that a 245 tire and a 8 inch wheel with 2 inch spacers won't fill the wheel well....that must be a W I D E fender flare.

BTW, big 15 inch tires are being phased out...so you might want to consider a Fuch faced three piece wheel. Most custom wheel guys can make you any width and offset you want....all ya need is money....

Mr. Mike:
Ok, I´m wrong, I don´t undertsand very well your first post.
My flares are the normal 916 kit.
Forget anything and try again, this is my post.
In the beggining I use 4 7" cookie wheels (944) and my father make the spacers (I don´t remember at this moment the " ), Then came a friend with a 911 and I install 1 8" fuchs momentary in my 916 without spacer. and is ok at front but the rear maybe need a spacer or wider wheel.
My father have 8" bbs wheels in front of his 911 but this wheels have different offset.
I only want to know the backspace of the 9 x 15 and 9 X 16 FUCHS wheels.
This is my post
thanks

Can't help you on the 9 inch Fuchs back space....there is a guy on the 911 list, Warren who will have that information. Try posting over there.

Not many 914s use a 9 inch wide wheel...8^)

Warren goes by the name of "Early S Man"

I run 7's up front with a 1" spacer and 8's in the rear with a .25" spacer (factory fuchs). My flares are fiberglass and the lips have been trimmed back. But even so, there is no way I would have been able to fit a 9" wheel in there - and my car was one of the more "forgiving" 914's when it came to tires as I easily fit 205's on my four bolt fuchs prior to flaring. The 225 rear tires fit perfectly on an 8" wheel in terms of side wall bulge, etc.. I tried to jam a 245 up in there, but even after trimming the flare they would rub - and in my opinion looked way to oversized for the wheel. You can see the final result on my car in the Pelican gallery.
I thought the only factory wheel combination was 7" wheels on the 916, and that the GT and M-471 all came with 6" wheels and spacers. I thought anything else was something added by the owner. You can absolutely run 8" fronts - I did for a couple of years. My only reason for the change was I just love the vintage look.

Mr. Scott:
Thanks for your good answer
Lamentably I can´t find your car in the gallery.
I supose that your wheels are 15 "
I can live with 8" in 4.
But I still want the 9", maybe If I buy the 9 wheels before I install the flares, I can make a little mod to adjust.
If you can send me a tail photo of you car I aprecciate alot.
thanks again

Cool

There is a black 914/6GT clone here in So Cal that was built by Hergesheimer and races with POC.

It has custom 3-piece wheels in back which I believe are 17x10's (maybe even 11's). They are built up on Fuchs centers with (I think) Kinesis forged rims. The guy is running 275/40x17 Kumho V700 tires in back.

These wheels are probably BIG bucks.

(Last I heard the car has been for sale. If I happen to come up with the money before it sells, I may actually buy it. Very sweet car.)

More pics of the car here (halfway down page): http://www.nosubstitute.org/events/SOW12May01

You could try contacting Laura or Mark at Hergeshiemer for more info. Their web site is: http://www.herg.net

I have a pair of copy fuchs 9 x 15. The backspacing is 118mm with an overall rim width of 250mm, presumably the genuine item is similar. My 914 is a 916 rep with factory flared arches: the 9x15's with 225/50's (245/50's no longer made)rub on the inside lip of the arch, which would have to be removed virtually completely to get them to fit & would seriously weaken it. Someone leaning on it would probably bend it. Have since seen a genuine GT with 9's & the same problem.

So I use 8 x 15 with 225/50/15 all round, looks OK to me. Still have the 9 x 15 copies spare if anyone wants them!

Gruntie,

Do you use spacers front or rear with the 8" Fuchs?

Thanks,
Mike

Ok, thanks a lot to all for your answers.

I believe that the best solution for me is:

Have 4 8" X 15 " Fuchs with spacers of .25

Thanks and regards

Eduardo Castrejón Elbjorn.
