Momo Adapter??
I have a 74 2.0 that I just got a Momo adapter for. Is the adapter suppose to fit flush or is there suppose to be about a 3" gap? Everything fits except that it doesn't slide all the way back. Or am I suppose to take the snap ring off?

The MOMO adapter we bought has a flexible cover that goes between the hub/ adapter and the switch cover. This may be missing on yours? It is corregated sort of and stiff although it does give some. The hub on ours was very tight and I actually dressed the inside of the splines a little with a jeweler's file. At first I thought it was the wrong one but I think 914s have their own special splines? at any rate it bottomed out and I have since added one of those 1 1/2 extensions which I like.

My MOMO adapter is the cast (wrinkle finish) aluminium type. It sits all the way down against the turn signal/windsheild washer switch. It is kinda in the shape of the old wooden thread spools, but also has a taper to it. It is a tight fit and after the nut is tightened down there isn't a lot of thread left on the steering shaft. The MOMO hub on my friends 911 sound identical to the one John Rogers has. I'll try to find out about the spline issue, I think my friend has a spare 911 steering laying around (hmmmmm, I wonder, a little filing hear, a knock with a hammer there, WA-LA a 916 dash in a 75 914! Probably won't work.)
Only other thing is the 70-71 steering unit were different than the later ones, not sure how. Maybe you have a earlier adapter? I do know that a 72-74 ignition lock/switch assy. will not fit in the 75-76 because I tried it. |
