Get it running and give it a full tune up... then add $$$
![]() stainless steel heat exchangers and a more open exhaust can help add a few hp. After that? need to open up the engine and replace pistons and cylinders.. ie, enlarge displacement.. 1911cc is a nice one Find a running 2.0L and install is another way. Factory 914 motors made between 72-95hp. A good running 1.7 should be good for 80hp. A 2.0l for 90+hp. You could also look to removing weight.. Or, since its your first 914, get it running the way it is.. and appreciate it for its handling and not its top speed. You can also do a search for Jake Raby and his aircooled motors site. LOTS of 914 motor kits/mod ideas available. Considering the 914 has been around for 30+ years, there is a good chance that solutions exist from mild to wild, it all depends on how much you want to spend.
