How to remove lock from by Glove Box and blk and red key won't work?

I cannot seem to figure out how to remove this lock. Also, neither my black or red key work for this lock... is the lock frozen? If so, what to use to get it to move?

I have searched but cannot seem to find anything on this topic.

Thanks in advance,
Bryan

I went through the same issue. You get the best access by removing the kneeboard, glove box and radio. It's still tight, but you can see how to remove it. You can change the wafers in the lock to work with your Black or Red Key. The how-to on rekeying can be found by searching here or 914world.com

Here's the link to rekeying 914 locks. It include the glove box lock.

Here is a pic from the thread ( page 3 ) of the locks back. It has this weird nut on the end. Loosening / tightinging it can be a challenge.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1265413140.jpg

Guys, thanks for the quick response

I got it. With the radio removed and the A/C dropped I was able to get to it from underneath. Removed a nut with slit marks (as shown above.. thanks) which I used a screwdriver to spin the nut so I could turn it by hand and then turned the larger nut.

The key works fine... the PO had put the lock in upside down so it wouldn't lock or unlock. Here is the a pic of the car.

Thanks,

Great looking Zambeize Green with Tan Interior; definately a keeper. If you looked closely, the metal dash hole for the glove box lock has a provision for the lock. If its not fitted correctly, it's a real headache.

Yep

Pete,

Those are old. I have actually sold the car since the last post to a guy in Phoenix. This thing was classic but on to the next project.
