Searching for: Beach Boys Racing, Vellios, Panzer designs
Hello
Curently I´m trying to locate Beach Boys Racing and/or Panzer Designs but can´t find them. I´m also searching for Vellios and was surprised to find a comercial site on my asee bros bookmark. Right now we need a G50 5 or 6 speed conversion for 914/6 and I think the asee´s had something suiting in there boxes and maybe Beach Boys offered the same units ( Well Venice to Anaheim is just a warm up distance ). Roland, the most current phone number I could find for Vellios is:
310-542-0806 I believe that he has a website but I'm afraid I don't know what it is. Hope the phone number helps.

Aase Brothers sold out. The shop was in the middle of nowhere at one time and then condos sprung up all around. The issues of noise and incompatibility with the neighborhood drove him out of business.
I saw him at the Ventura German Auto fest, he was selling Monty Mufflers and some NOS stuff he had left over. Beach Boys is in Venice CA, right next door to Otto's on Hampton Drive. A google search found no website, but I have the following.... Beach Boys Racing 703 Hampton Dr Venice, CA 90291-3018 Phone: (310)396-3221 Vellios has pretty much retired, don't know if he even makes any of the stuff anymore. When down south I have driven past the shop, it has not changed much....but I see it closed.

Interesting...I have seen that Hampton address for Beach Boys several times, but every time I'm down there I see zero signs of them. Literally -- no signs, no 914s, etc. If they're still in business, they are keeping a very low profile, and not doing much 914 work.
I found a Palmdale address for Vellios at one point, so he may have moved from the South Bay where he was located for many years, but lately all roads to Vellios seem to lead to the same place --> nowhere. Bummer...he apparently made some really great stuff. Aase is definitely gone. I heard that one single buyer picked up the majority of their inventory (many semi-trailer loads) but I keep forgetting who it was. They are not in California IIRC. Cheers,

Chris....
The guy I am buying the 914/6 conversion from claims that the Beach Boys owner has been laying low for awhile....but is now back to full business...

MikeZ is right, BBR is right next door to Otto's on Hampton. I was there several months ago and if I remember correctly, there was only a small sign on the building that said Venice Auto Body. All of the 914 conversions were in the garage behind closed doors in various stages of completion.
I met with Bob (the owner) and talked with him for some time about a speedester conversion. I believe most of the mechanical work is actually done at Otto's. |

Hello
Hell, what will do the aase brothers if they don´t can screw on old Porsches or Mercedes ? When I was over there the last time they where thinking about geting involved in Toyota and race Toyotas ( MR2´s ) and start a new site for that. Wounder what happend to the race cars and the 914 pickup ? BBR was never from real interesst but they had some really nice hardware in the store. I think that stuff was from panzer designs who also distributet Vellios. So there is only Patriks Motorsport left over ? Grüsse |

Roland,
You're right, where is the 914 pickup? I had read that there are two: a -4 and a -6 that were built by Troutman I think. Anyone know anything? |
