Porsche Crest 914/6 Front Suspension & Brakes

I'm in process of upgrading the suspension on my 914/6. Want to install later 911 front suspension and 930 or Big Red Calipers & Rotors. Need recomendation on what year suspension or model, i.e.; SC or Carrera suspension to use and any leads for these items.

Thanks,

Dave

74 thru 77 'S", SC or Carerra struts will do the trick. All have the 3.5 inch spacing for the calipers. You don't say what kind of shocks (inserts) you want....it matters as there are interchangability issues.

If yours is an original six, it has the pinch bolt type ball joint.......ya didn't say. A change to wedge bolts and the ball joints for them will be necessary.

If you use the whole shooting match off any of the above cars, this is not a problem. The advantage to this is a greater selection of T-bars available with the 911 A arms.....more cost, natch. Make sure ya get the hub pinch nuts (front axle) and washers as the 914 jobs won't fit.

Finding a good set up can be a *****, BTDT. I went with just the struts.

The front ends from either an SC or a Carrera 78-89 will work great.

Since you have a 6 and you are going to Big Reds, you may be able to find an adapter to mount Reds onto the 3" spacing.

it only takes money

Big reds, adapter kits, on my 914/6 struts. looks like I will be moon lighting a little longer.
P.S. my "S" brakes are on the way for my 928. So Shouldn't be too long before I can mock up the whole 928 914 conversion.

The front conversion is no problem. You can bolt a complete 911 front end on any 914, including the steering rack and the alum cross member. All you have to do is change the primary steering shaft. The lengths are different. In the rear we offer a kit to change to five bolt hub. That kit includes two rear wheel bearings(you will destroy the old ones when you change the hubs) two 914/6 stub axles, ten studs(choice on length),two 914/6 wheel hubs and two 914/6 brake discs. Don't forget to buy wheels and have tires mounted, like some of our customers did not do. OTTO
